I am having an issue figuring out which starter will work for my 88 gt 5.0.... Anyone who has replaced a starter care to share which one they bought, and how it worked out/ i dont wanna spend much more than $200 for one.... Also, how much of a pain is it to replace one? My car is also a 5 spd....... thanks for the help!

If you don't have long tubes the starter is a piece of cake. I just bought a mini-starter for $70.00 on ebay and it's working fine.

$200 seems pretty steep. The one that I got looks identical to a powermaster.

Yup

You said you had hookers... more than likely you'll have to take it off just be able to reach the starter, and there might be clearance issues for an OEM size. It's really not that difficult if you've got the time and you know how to take a manifold off.

his sig says equal legnths. Do they make an equal length long tube? It must look freakish. I have long tubes and the header had to come off to replace the starter. Equal shorties shouldn'r be a problem- assuming that's what he's got.

I used a Ford FRPP mini starter. I clears my 1987 Blackjack semi longtubes and starts much better than the original style.
