I just finished swapping out a aode for my new TKO 600. I Went to start it and the theft light flashes real fast and the car does nothing. I did change out my computer. I put in a 5 speed computer. What do I need to do to get the car to start. Do I need a new key made?

Thanks Jay

PATS

All ford ecu's after 96 have PATS. GO to ford and have them program it to your keys.

I had a locksmith come out and try to program the keys to the computer and it still wouldn't work. It just sits there flashing theft like it did before. So I guess Im going to ford to see if they can help me!! I hate when ford touches my cars...

Can you not program your own keys,in the owners manual on my 01 GT it told how to or is that only on the newer cars,or only with new keys.

NM,I see you need at least one working key to be able to do it.

Ok, I went to ford today. Four hours later the car was running. They put 3 computers to it and in the end we just jumped two wires to get it started. Im not sure where to go from here as to why the 96-97 5 speed computer didn't work plug and play style. I do beleive the (pats) location is different on 98's than on 96-97. So for now I have a jumper (quick fix) on the starter relay till I can either get a 98 ecu or firgure out where I went wrong.

Might be cheapest to just get a tune for $400 to disable the pats and gain some hp too...

ya, you can. I have the sniper softare on my car and it has the option for it. Was only $350 for the whole kit to make yourself unlimited tunes for 2 cars too. Do it.

will the sniper software work with a 08 gt as well? I might get it but im not sure if it would be cheaper to just get a 98 gt 5speed computer and get my keys programmed to it. Did you guys see gains with this sniper tuner? It looks ok but im just wondering why more people aren't using it.

thanks

Well I did the swap because my auto was going and I had to choose either a built auto or a built 5 speed. I have had other stangs in the past and this was my first auto and I didn't like driving it. So I went to pro motion powertrain and bought the tremec along with other parts. Ya I have pictures and a parts list. I'll post the list and pictures soon.
