I think im going with the magnaflow x pipe....havent decided if i should put the dynomax bullets on or keep the flows. with the bullets, should i do turn downs or get them connected to the tails? or should i just get a new catback system? anyone know where to get a good catback(part number, etc)? im thinking magnapacks. If anyone has anymore advice on a good setup let me know, cause everyone tells me if i want it louder, get an h pipe. What would a magnaflow h with high flows cats sound like with the dynomax bullets?

Hey im in Cali too, they actually get under there and check for cats? man waht happens if they catch you?

Maybe I'll put the heat sheilds on the pipes so at least it *kinda* looks like they are on there, but then it will rattle...stupid California

Punk - you must be 'new' to California....even if you just moved there, you just haven't been paying attention.

You sure about killing that '70 Falcon'? 70 Falcon's are pretty rare - it was the last year of production, and was basically a Torino with Falcon name badges on it - Mercury did the same thing with the Comet putting those badges on the Montego body. The reason there weren't 'real' Falcons and Comets in 70 was because Ford/Mercury was about to introduce the Maverick/Comet duo. Not that anyone but me cares about such trivia.

I know of two people who were running straight pipes on their 5.0's, and got pulled over. One of them was actually asked to pop his hood and the cop was looking for whatever he could to site him. The cop eventually looked under the car and saw no cats. As far as i remember, it was a pretty large fine, much more than a catted x or h pipe. I have heard some people say that you will just get a fix-it ticket but then those who have been fined anywhere from a grand and up.To me its not worth taking the chance running a o/r x or h, you never know when that cop will pull you over....... As far as the smog test, they are suppose to do a visual. The last time i went in, the guy skipped the visual, i guess you just have to find the right shop.

X if made correctly will make more power up top/downlow all over the board compared to an H...

Alright, this thread didnt go as far as i thought it would. I think that im finally just gonna go for it and buy the magnaflow x pipe. As far as everyone says, x pipes sound good with dynomax bullets, just wondering if anyone has a catted h pipe with the bullets and how that sounds.

I figure im gonna ditch the flows that are on now no matter what. But im still not 100% sure if i want the catted x or catted h, anyone else got any advice. Also, if i dont want dumps, how do you get the bullets connected to the tail pipes? Should i just spend more cash and get a catback system? what catbacks do you suggest to go along with a catted x or h? I have this bad feeling im not going to be happy with the x pipe's sound. After hearing more and more clips/videos, its just making it harder to decide. Give me some feedback, what do you guys think, whats a nice loud setup? I have heard bullets are loud and i have two sitting in my garage, so kinda want to base it on that. With bullets, would a catted h really be that much louder? Basically, a straight through muffler will be loud correct? In my first post, i was thinking about getting a magnapack catback, do they have these for fox bodies? wouldnt bullets be a cheaper way of getting a similar sound?

IMO i'd say go with a H-pipe and a 2 chamber flowmaster with turndowns. I have headman headers which are crap but they work good because hell i'm in the 10's a Pacesetter h-pipe and 2-chamber flowmaster american thunder system with turndowns, and it sounds bad ass. Especially with the X-cam i have along with everything else in my sig LOUD and AGRESSIVE wahooo

Brent, did you guys try moving the crossovers closer to the collectors to try to optimize them? I've seen alot of off the shelf pipes that have the x or h crossover way back from the collectors. That being Mac, BBK, etc., I don't think I've ever seen a Magnaflow pipe off a car to get a good look at it. I was shocked looking under Charlie Booze's hot street car that he runs an H crossover. The crossover is as close to the collectors as he could get it. With the grueling testing that Charlie does to stay competative, I think he must have done some dyno testing to arrive at that.

Actually we did alot of testing-

In theory, the X pipe will work better the closer you get it to the engine- however other things have to be taken into consideration- such as adding extra bends in order to make it work-

adding the extra bends can actually take away the advantages you gained by moving it closer- not to mention making it alot harder to work on your car- as you would have to drop your mid pipe to get to your tranny-

We have another theory on placement as well, based on the reduction of exhaust gas temperatures as they travel through the exhaust-

Engineers have tried explaining it to me before- beyond this- but there is a reason I am in sales and not an engineer- because they might as well have neen speaking Chinese when they were trying to explain it to me-
