I have an 1989 lx fox, and its an automatic, i want to do the manual swap. I have a t5 and id suppose that its the stock bell housing that came with it and its a cable clutch not a hydrolic. I was wondering performance wise would this help my car and will it bolt up to my motor, i have the right fly wheel for it to. what all do i need to do this swap. one more question, i have a adjustable 2.3 cam pulley i could put on my car, i was wondering if i messed with the cam timing could i get some more power out of it or is that a waste of time. and what about advancing the distributer or something...... thanks curtis

if you have a correct 4 cyl t5 and flywheel it should bolt up and be ready to go. I would not even mess with the timing, any gains would be minimal and not worth the effort. if you really want performance swap to a turbo motor.

For a T5 swap you'll need the transmission, bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, clutch cable, clutch pedal, quadrant, and there may be some other small parts I'm not thinking of. I haven't done such a swap so I don't know the exact procedures.

There really are no good cam upgrades for an NA 2.3L. I believe it is the 89s and up that cam with the Ranger roller cam. if you catch a snag, Stingers page has a great walk thru of a A4LD to T5 swap.
