helping 0-60 auto time w gears/CAI/tune

Mine is the auto and at full weight on the stock 18" 235s with 4.10s, CAI/tune ( 93 octane) and O/R H pipe, I was running 13.3s at the track. From what I've seen, the new Camaro can run 13-13.1 STOCK! Without sticky tires, you will be spinning the OEM tires with the extra power and the 4.10s. It does make it fun to drive though

Just my guess, if you have a good launch and don't spin too much, you could get under 5 sec 0-60.

I have a 08 Vert with CAI and dyno tune with 4.10s. My best time for 60ft was 1.94 on stock 18in wheels/tires. Quickest down the 1/4 mile was 13.21sec. Never ran her on the track without the 4.10s so I can't say how much it helped. But the dyno tune definitely helped a bunch.

Sure! That will be a blast! The first several passes of the day, I always leave the seats in. If the times look good after that, then I take the weight out and run this...

That day, my full interior passes were low 13.2s and some 13.1s. Dropping the extra 70 or so lbs in seats dropped me in the 12s

On a side note a buddy of mine ordered his Camaro SS last Oct. and is expecting to get it very soon. You cant imagine the trash he's loved to say over the last few months. I'm not looking to blow his doors off or even take him in a long term bout. I just want to be able to keep up in a very short spurt (like 0-60) just to bring his ego down a notch. Thanks

Big improvement in 0-60 mph for a GT automatic comes from an aftermarket stall converter. That yielded a 3 tenths reduction in my short times at the track all by itself. 4.10's helped, but not as much. Supercharger helped even more (go figure) as my car runs 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds now and 0-100 mph in 9.9 seconds.

How drivable is it with the 4800 stall? What is tolerable on a daily driver? Putting in my 3.73's but i was thinking that would be a good time to do the stall.

I run a 2800 stall and 3.73. My 0-60 MPH time is 2.9 seconds. High stalls dont really affect you unless you are going full throttle from a dead stop. They may give a little slip at partial throttle but not too noticable.

A member of another forum was able to reduce his 1/4 mile times by 0.2 sec. after installing 4.10's on his S197 GT(Forget if it was a manual or auto). Unfortunately, he did not post any slips that showed where the times improved the most, i.e., 0-60', 60'-330', 330'-1/8 mile, and 1/8 mile-1/4 mile.
But IMHO, 4.10's should improve your 0-60 mph times since they provide increased torque multiplication over 3.31's and 3.55's, assuming you learn how to launch properly so that your car doesn't just sit and spin as mentioned by others.

BTW, I've seen some new Camaro test results showing times of approx. 5.0 sec. from 0-60 and 13.5 sec. in the 1/4, both of which are attainable with your car assuming it has a good driver mod. However, it's possible that the Camaro's launch control feature was enabled for these runs, since times of 4.6 and 13.0 sec. were made in other tests with LC disabled and the testers said enabling it produced slower times. On the other hand, disabling it can also produce a lot tire spin with an unexperienced driver when considering the gobs of torque that the new Camaro produces.
This means getting your friend to agree to a dig race right after he gets the Camaro, so that hopefully he will not have had enough practice launching with the LC disabled, and thus will have to enable it giving you a better chance to win.
Just don't let you car sit and idle for a long time, since this will heatsoak the engine which reduces its power output. Also, pick a time to race when the temperature is not too hot(80's-90's), as this causes the ECU to pull timing in order to prevent the engine from pinging. Finally, suggest that you don't agree to a roll race.

Like StonePony mentioned, the stall converter only flashes up high at wide-open-throttle (WOT). With normal throttle position, it takes off fairly normal - just a slightly higher than stock rev.

Here's a 45 second long video I took from inside my GT (last year before the supercharger install) that will exemplify how the car revs at a normal start (beginning of video pulling onto road from a parking lot). Notices how the rpm's don't drop much at shift points. Then listen how it flashes way up at WOT (from the traffic light later in the video)....

You can easily modulate how high the rpm's go at launch by how much throttle you give it. Stall converters also keep revs up during WOT shifts so you maintain momentum (and boost with forced induction).

My time slips improved 3 tenths of a second with the stall converter all across the slip (60', 330', 1/8 mile, 1000', 1/4 mile).
