Hey Cheapsk8!

I missed the whole race at the Glen today; but have spent the last hour or so looking at the videos on NASCAR.com. Looks to me like you should be proud; several Nextel Cup Pro's with their multi-ten-thousand COT's only made it one Turn past your efforts with Crunchsk8! And; in all the pics you posted, I didn't see any evidence your plowing gravel or dumping door foam all over the track; way to go! :nice:

Now that they're done with the course for this season; it's time to get back out there with the reborn COBRASK8 MKII; and show them up with a few completed laps at speed! :Track:

Go, Dan, go! GO, DAN, GO! GO,DAN,GO!
GO, DAN GO!

Why thank you!

Actually, Cobrask8 has just been put up on jack-stands for the final prep, as I race on Mon/Tues, the 20 & 21.

With the new motor, slicks, and more areo, it should be alot quicker, and demanding to drive.

One part of the track which is always alot of work is Turn 1, just like on TV. Braking after blasting down the fronty straight is always a dance of keeping control, just like you saw on TV. Many times, I have wondered if I will make it through that corner, or have lock-up and slide out. More than a few times I have smelled very hot brakes in that corner. I always let myself be passed there is someone is desparate enough to try to deep brake.

The "Esses" are great fun, usually run in third, way up on the motor. Before I added the spoiler, I would come out of the esses onto the back stretch, and the car would keep drifting left. After I added the spoiler, the front end stays planted. The big reason why my Cobra has it, and is one of the few with a front spoiler, it gets raced!

The "Bus Stop" is a blast! I too usually bounce over the curbs!

Where the NASCAR boys go straight on the short chute, we do a dazzling downhill left into the "boot", which is just a fabulous, and most technical part of the track, and my favorite part. Doenhil, fast, big braking, then some uphill parts, it's the real test of the cars. Yes, Turn 9 is the exit of the boot, so I will be cautious there.

and on turn 11, the right-hander onto the front straight, you can drift wide into the dirt if you go in too hard.

I'm looking forwards to it!

I need a photographer. Any members close by?

Red with sirens was indeed right. But, it was more of that I had stopped in the racing groove, and cars were approaching at racing speed.

COBRASK8 is now on jack-stands, getting scoops & hoses for brake cooling and oil cooler air. I'm also going to experiment with some aero mods to try to "plant" the nose at speed. I'll put up a pic. It will be the strangest Cobra for sure!

A wing, spoiler, or flap?
All of the above...you might also consider a bug shield...:D

how about those little mo-hawks that I see on the motorcycle helmets? That would be cool, you zipping around The Glen with a mohawk helmet.
Except, knowing Dan, instead of it running front to back, he'll have it going from side to side!
