hey there is a 86 mustang 5.0 on ebay. it is preety cheap right now, and if it stays under 1,500 i would like to buy it. would i be paying to much? or is this a preety nice deal? i asked my dad he said from what he can tell yes but you can never really tell intill you see it up close in real life nad not from pictures. i know the color and the wheels suck but i would be doing ym own thing there with whatever car i got. it has 81,000 miles on it. the only downside is it is a 5.0 with out a 5 speed so i would have to buy a t5 to stuff in it but do you think that this looks like a great plat form to start with? thanks for the help guys.

I think it would be a decent project car. As long as you dont mind the work.

Don't buy it if you have never driven a stock 5.0 with an automatic. You will be very disappointed in it's performance. Personally I would never buy a car no matter the price with seeing it, driving it. Also, I think you should pass and buy a nice looking 4cylinder for a grand and save yourr money then swap it out. I bet that car needs a lot of work.

id watch out on that car, id search and spend a little more and get a nicer starting point, im like the others, that car would need quite a bit of work

First off you want a starter car, and your willing to work out issues. If your dead set on a standard trans, keep looking, it's too much work to puit the pedals et al in there. However, Both of my cars run automatic transmissions and both cars kick A. Dont listen to the naysayers about how the automatic is a huge power robber. Yes it does take more power to spin it, but go to any ET series race night and 90% of the cars will be automatics and you'll see 10 second automatics all day long. The most serious thing you need to look at is RUST. Does the car have rust in the unibody. It looks like a nice car and a good platform to start on. The price is certainly right.

I think that guy has no idea what he is talking about. The car has obviusly been messed with, it has a 2bbl carb? All 86's v8s were EFI. So keep that in mind.

might have been in an accident since the front bumper doesnt match the rest of the car, the molding on the car is black and front bumper is painted all yellow.

OK i looked for another mustang. its a 82 ford mustang hatchback with 100,000 miles on it with a 5 speed.we will be going to look at it on Saturday. it needs somebody work. has a 2bb carb. its red on red. in not looking to build a pro 5.0. what i want to build is a nice looking great sounding mustang. and maybe take it to the drag strip to see what shes got for being a 24 year old car after we make sure that's the engines up to it.

when we go to look at it i will take some pictures of the trouble areas. and get a video of it running. and we will be taking it for a spin.
