HID Conversion

Hey everyone, first time poster here... hope this is in then right spot

I just got me an 03' Mustang and I just got some cash to do some mods. I am first looking at replacing my front headlights with some projectors and a HID kit. However, I am a little confused on what to buy.

I was looking at www.mustangtuning.com and their HID kit was talking about how our cars needed to be "Dual Beam" because the Hi/Lo beams worked off one 9007 blub ??

So, I went looking and I found this HID kit on ebay that is titled as "BI XENON CONVERSION KIT DUAL BEAM". So I am thinking it is what I need, right? Or can I go with the basic single beam kits that are cheaper.

Now, I am also looking to buy some projector headlights. I would like Halos, but not fior the price atm. I was looking at These on ebay, do they seem like a sound investment? Or would set #2 Work better?

I am completly new to HID and Projectors. Any infomation on this would be wonderfull, Thanks ! :SNSign:

You can use single-beam HID bulbs in your stock headlight housings and be fine without having high beams. I do. Some state inspection techs will be a dick about not having high beams (actually it's the high beam indicator on the cluster that has to be functional), and the projector kits or the dual capsule HID bulbs will work around that. Dual capsule bulbs are more expensive because you have to run two sets of ballasts, one for low beam and another for high beam.

id say to go with the dual beams only because high beams are good to have. i have a set of projectors for my HIDs, unfortunately they're not the right type of projectors so im looking into buying another pair when i get enough money. i did find a set of halo projectors with the HID kit on ebay though for aroud three hundred. look into that, i think i might be getting it myself and moving my HIDs to the fog lights.

Ok, I am going to go ahead and spend around $300 for a good mustang only kit and get the projectors later. Now the descision is what color to go with.

I want a deep, bright, and noticable blue. so, should I go with 8000k, 10000k, or 12000k? I would REALLY love some pics of what you all have and what temp it is. Thanks for the help.

I just went through this color thingalso. I said **** it and ordered a 5000k kit. I mean use up the bulb till it gets dim. After that goes out than buy a new set with a different color temperature if you dont like the 1st set you brought.

Anyways, get the 8000K kit.

I miss having headlights that actually put some light down on the road... My 330ci was equipped with factory Xenons, and now i'm spoiled after that...

I just installed new ultra clear headlights on the Stang today. My next mod will be a HID conversion kit. Stangmods.com has them on sale and i've heard good things about their hid kits.

I would stay away from the more blue-temperature bulbs unless you do exclusively city driving. Blue has the lowest effective range of reflectivity, so you won't be able to see as far down a dark road with blue than with a more white temperature. If the bulbs are REALLY blue, you might get pulled over too, depending on your state's laws concerning blue lights on non-emergency vehicles.

Yeah i'd go with the 6000k bulbs. That's pure white. Anything over 6000k is blue, which cuts down on light output like you said.
