Hid Install Issue, No Low Beams

Hey guys, I was unhappy with my stock lights so I bought a dual kit from Modded Mustangs, the install was easy but now I have no low beams, if I unhook one of the ballast the low beam switch works on the light still connected, the guy at Modded Mustang shipped me a replacement ballast and it does the same exact thing, if I hook up my stock lights everything works, I have grinded all the grounds to bare metal and triple checked all the connections, any ideas??? When I switch to low beam I just get a flicker then it goes back to high beam.
 
Do you have a relay to switch HID power or did you wire the ballast power directly to the low-beam wiring?

If not, do it: Get a standard 30A automotive relay. Drive the relay coil terminal 86 with the low beam signal from one side or the other and tie terminal 85 to ground. Connect terminal 30 to the battery through an appropriately-sized fuse and 87 can be tied to the ballasts' power input.
 
There are two power wires and one ground wire that wire into the blue adapter plug on the relay. You need to switch the two power wires and you will have fixed your problem.
 
Which two wires do I need to swap the relay harness has three wires, a blue, orange and white? I know one is low beam votage, high beam and ground, do I just need to check the voltage and swap the 2?

Correct. You're getting lights to function so the ground is correct. Switch the two power wires.
 
I just swapped the 2 voltage wires, blue and yellow on the light harness and I got the same thing, just seems really odd that if I unhook on of the ballast it works fine yet both ballast work, I'm kinda at a loss, any idea what to check next?

I just wired one of these the other day... Ran into the same issue. I suggest just swapping the wires with the 9 possible combos available. I can almost attest with 99% certainty it's just a combo of the wiring. If I can get to the other car I can check. If not it just takes a few minutes to try all the possible combos. Just don't put them into the plug until you've got it right.
 
Thanks fiveohwblow, I been struggling with this for about a month, if you can talk me thru this I'll be forever in your debt cause its killing me I cant figure it out.
 
Ok I'm going back to scratch on this, I just hooked my stock lights back up and they work fine, high beams low beams, running lights etc...I checked the voltage on my headlight socket, black wire is ground, yellow wire is high beam and blue is low beam, with the lights on high beam I get 12 volts on the yellow wires, on low beam I get 12v on the blue wire

I disconnected both ballast and reconnected the relay to the stock harness, after I connect the relay harness I have voltage on both the high beam wire and low beam wire, one measures 12v and the other is like 7v on low beam and on high beam I have 12v and 10v, is this normal?
 
A couple of questions to see if I can help . . .

Did you use the metal strips included in the kit to ground both ballast housings?
When you say "no low beams", do you mean the bulb stays on but the internal shutter does not move to lower the projected beam cutoff point?

This doesn't sound correct. The wire that powers the ballasts/bulbs should be at 12V in both high beam and low beam. The wire that powers the shutters should be at ~12V for one and 0V for the other. You may have selected the wrong wire of the 3 (blue, orange, white) to connect to ground.
 
Hey n0v8r, yes I did use the metal straps but I only screwed them in using self tapping screws, I didn't get any instructions with the kit and didn't know the ballast housings need to be grounded. Right now I am replacing the stock headlight connectors since I noticed the connections seem to be a little loose, if the ballast housings need to be grounded I will make sure the ballast cases read continuity to the chassis ground.
 
Ok I have new factory lighting connectors on both lights with the factory bulbs in, everything works fine, this should mean my high beam, low beam, ground wires are correct right?
