If it's a daily driver, keep it at around 9.5:1 compression and get it tuned every time you up the boost. Check out these web pages.

Pop-Quiz!

Would you just need to keep the compression under like 10:1?

I'd like to do a 347 stroker in the future and have a blower too.

Which one of these don't belong?

A. 347
B. Blower
C. Stock Block

If you build a mild setup, and then add a blower you might get away with it but a healthy 347 can make 400 to the wheels by itself, and much over that and the block is going to start getting near the limit. If your going to spend all this money on engine parts, might want to look to a dart for a good foundation. Then you can do what GroverDill did and do widebore and have a 364, or just go to a 427, but that would be N/A/Spray.

This would all be a future build, but I'm thinking port and polished Twisted Wedges or AFR 185's.

With a 58cc chamber (AFR's more efficent chamber) your in the 9.3:1 range, with the 61cc chamber (TFS stock) 9.0:1.

With a 14.2cc dish piston you can have 9.46:1 or use a 20.1cc piston and get in the 9.1:1 range. Very doable with either a 5.315" or 5.4" rod set-up.

So which heads do you reccomend for me, assuming that I'd be doing this in a 331 or 306 daily driver? I'd most likely be getting a custom cam, and a Systemax II intake to top it off...maybe ported by TMoss.

Personally I like the 58cc 185's on that combo, no need to port the Holley at this time it will feed it just fine.

Alright man, thanks for the help. Also, since this is going to be my means of transporation every day, think a 306 would be a better choice since gas mileage will be a concern.

If your going to get new internals go with the stroker, don't leave the power on the table.

But with the 331/347, would I still get somewhat reasonable gas mileage as long as I dont romp on it all the time?

Probably better. You'll have much more lowend torque to get the car going and that'll allow for higher gearing also.

Sorry, I was thinking you were Modular2V. I still imagine it would be very, very close if not better than a 306 with AFR 185s or ported Twisted Wedges.

hey just thought id jump in since my car sounds alot like what you are thinking about building. my 331 is 10.5:1. the heads are ported w/1.90/1.60 valves, supposed to flow with the afr185. anyways as far as daily driving and stuff its fine i think, i havnt had any problems in all the situations ive been in. the gas mileage isnt bad if you stay off the throttle, which trust me is hard. ive always driven the car on 92octane, im sure itd be fine on 89 but i just cant bring myself to do it. i plan on getting the car tuned in summer and maybe have a spray kit to get tuned along with it, 100 shot at the most though. i dont know well see. im hoping for 400+ at the crank
