are you turboed?
In terms of power, you are best off running the lowest octane possibly without detonation.
If you have an NA car, you will without a doubt make best power on 87 octane. If you are turboed, you will be able to get more power IF you run more timing or more boost. If you don't change either, power will not change.

well i'm running around 13 psi now.... 10 degree timing.

so basically is there no benefit of running the high octane fuel ?

reread what I said. You will see a benifit if you tune it to take advantage of the extra octane. That means running more boost and or timing.
