Those that have been around StangNet are aware that I owned a full fledged road racer that competed on tracks from Daytona to Watkins Glen. This car provided a lot of insight on what is needed and what is not needed to make the early model perform.

Well, the car has been sold to a gentleman in Europe who will continue its racing heritage at LeMans, Nurburgring, Spa and other tracks in Europe. Here is the scoop: www.historicmustang.com/tech.html .

I am not going anywhere and may continue to iritate some individuals from time to time on my feelings about the early model and how simpe and inexpensive it is to enjoy and make perform.

Plus, I still have my daily driver to talk about.

The old girl has got a great home in Europe with lots funding to continue its racing heritage.

In a little over a year I will be 60 years of age and it was one Hell of a ride for the last 10 years! The lady took care of me and I took care of her.

I have been around these things since Dad bought a brand new 64 1/2 baby blue convertible for me and my brother. That was over 40 years ago and I still enjoy these damn things that do not want to turn.

I'm hoping to build mine in the Road Racing style, but mostly for street use. Weekend warrior, if you like... I also need to find out where real races are held around here, if at all. 1/4 mile racing is just for benchmarking, and testing changes Real cars go fast and are able to turn left and right.... lol

I'll probably ask a million questions here... when the time comes.

In the meantime, I'll go look for pictures of your car.

sorry, you had to sell it Henry but i know what it's like, i'm about to have to sell mine as well and it was my first car. i've had that car for going on 24 years now and i'll probably cry like a baby for at least a month but at least i'll have another classic falcon chassis car to play with. it's a 69 cougar that belongs to a buddy of mine and only has 76,000 original miles on it. it needs a new paint job since the passenger side is stripped and needs to be put back together after it's painted but it'll be a fun project i have no doubt.

good luck on the parts biz if you decide to it. and you can still irritate me, i don't mind.

You are in luck. Go here for sanctioning body in Florida that does events East of the Mississippi: www.hsrrace.com . In fact check the classified section for a listing of the car I just sold! This is the group the lady raced with. They also have a division on the West coast.

Jester - Who cares where the thread is at, some people never visit talk, get a life.


Historic - I just sold my car as well a couple weeks ago and as of this past Wednesday its back on the track. Always enjoyed your input to the site and it sounds like you car found a nice home and will continue to get flogged on the track.

For the record HM is one of the people that liked to point out the same thing in the past. He sold the car that is talk pure and simple.

At least you're still following your passion Historic! I chose another of my passions (Harleys) over Mustangs first - it seemed like the most suitable thing to do at the time and there were certain things that sort of made the decision for me. It does make me a little sad though, I'm not going to be building my dream car for a long while now - maybe after buying a house.

I'm glad you're still here - I value your realistic approach to things.

As a side note, I did retain the data plate from the old girl. All others items including original glass, interior parts, racing awards, time sheets and photographs went with the car.

If you have not done this before it is pretty simple. Anything that can be crammed into the car goes with the car. The items placed in a restored car such as this should be placed in blankets to protect themselves and the interior.

Most early models do not require a title (cars in Georgia do not need a title if over 20 years old). Only items needed are a bill of sale, a letter for US Customs, copy of the registration and copy of form where the registration was cancelled.

In my case the money was wired into my bank account before the car was picked up by the transport company. In other words I had the new owners money and his car at one point.

The maket for early models in Europe is VERY strong and paying top dollar.

Just to make sure we cover the tech issue - the car did have four wheels.

We recently had a GT HO Falcon go for over half a million dollars over here (at auction). I've seen BOSS 429s online at 200k regularly and one at 400k - not sure if it sold though. Regular imported Mustangs seem to have gone up in price by about 30% too.
