Is it better for me to go to a shop and get it repaired or should I buy a new fender and replace it? Has this happened to anyone and what did you do? What do you recommend?

Depending on the cost of repair (not replace), your best bet is to replace the fender. You can get a used fender to save money. Either way you will need a shop to paint the fender and blend the paint the adjacent parts.

Best thing to do is call some shops up tell them what you need and ask them how much they cost and find out which way would be cheaper.

Call your local shops and ask them how
much the parts you need will be! Also
whatever way would be cheapest to
fix it.

Get a new fender. www.50resto.com has reproduction fenders for $89.99, Ford original fenders for $229.99. The reproduction fenders are supposedly made to original specs and meet all CAPA certifications. Paint job should be in the $300-350 range. Hope this helps.
