how loud is a trac lok suppossed to be?

just installed my trac lok 3.55 rear in my 66. my question is, how loud are they supposed to be? i understand that it will be louder than my open diff but it is especially loud on decel. is this correct? if it is it is worth it. two black stripes are so much cooler than one also, having a little leakage issue past the paper gasket. any suggestions?

Sounds like the pinion depth is off. As for the gasket, I never use them. I just put a small bead of silly cone instead.

did you use the Friction Modifier??

No it is'nt. You shouldnt know you have a T-Lok until you mash the loud pedal.

1. trash the gasket in favor of a small bead of xxxx brand silicone sealant.

2. dont drive it until you find out why it is noisy, as you could destroy your hard work. As above check fluid type, pinion depth, check the ring gear for run-out (had one once that was warped), etc...

used the friction modifier. hmm will have to pull the 3rd member later to see about losing the gasket. i will see if there is an obvious wear pattern on the gears when i pull it. it is under warranty for 6 months so we shall see. i wish i knew how to set the pinion depth and backlash myself. is it a complicated process? also, what weight gear oil do you guys reccomend?
