Ok, I'm hoping to put the new o/r h pipe on next weekend (my husband won't let me do it unless he's home AND in the mood to let me do it, cause he thinks I'll drop the car on myself ). Anyway, a few people have gotten me worried about roadside checks and no cats, because I'm told they'll tow my car if they aren't there, so someone suggested I just put hollowed out cats on. I have NO idea how to do this, can anybody help... I already tried doing a search on the forum, but no results...

Hollowed out cats.... 6 cats would be a pita to hollow out.
Get some high flo cats, 1 per side.

have a muffler shop spot weld cat shields and it would give of the impression that you have high flow cats on put one on each side

Did you realize that almost all your posts have the words "...husband let me....." in them?

Gutting cats is ghetto. If you want more flow, then save your money for an H/X pipe with high flow cats. If you want it louder, change out to a set of aftermarket mufflers.

Either way...gutting your stock cats is a bad idea!

Hollowed out cats make the exhaust sound like butt, and wreaks havoc on backpressure. If you want to save a couple bucks, you could chop two of your old cats off of the stock H pipe, gut them, and slap them over the pipes on your new offroad *-pipe. You could get the Prochamber kit with the two sets of legs, and run the offroad ones until you get pulled over, and slap the catted ones on to show the cops later. At least, that's the way it works up here in Michigan if anyone gets in trouble for having no cats. http://cgi.ebay.com/Catalytic-Conve...907QQihZ018QQcategoryZ357QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Well, I think I'm just gonna say screw it. If I have a problem I'll deal with it when it happens. Thanks for all the responses. I wasn't worried about a fine before, I was just worried about them hooking my car up to a tow truck. I'll get the prochamber when I can afford it and just not worry about for now.

Hey now! I have gutted bbk cats. I had a chunk come loose inside and it rattle like crazy when you let off the gas, so I gutted both of them. It actually sounds really good, to the point where I've had numorous people follow me home to find out what exhaust setup I had and where they could get it. I don't think you could gut the stock ones in the same way without removing them though form the midpipe.
