If you read the Original Post the Guys Family owns a Car Business, the reason the Ricer car is at the Track is to promote Business for themselves to attract people to them so they have to have a good showing, they may have more than 50 Grand into it as it is advertisement for them.

SO the guy has a nicer, faster car, and way more money than most of us here. Awesome, I see no reason to get whiney and pick on it, it would stomp my car into the ground no matter what he invested.

Like said before, I have seen 346484 Mustangs running faster, and rarely see them driven to the track! I like fast cars, bottem line, and this qualifies. I dont care what he has into it, as I dont have that kind of money!

You guys are a bunch of idiots, get your head out of you ass and go do some research. An ams gt35rl kit for and evo is $4,549.95, the car can make 575-650 WHP if you want to push the stock bottom end. And most cars run mid tens with that kit and supporting exhaust total cost of an evo 8 right now around 23-26k, you do the math. That kit is the same price as a hellion for a fox, give or take. Do you look at cobras that make 550 -600 and say thats not impressive they added a kb plus all the other suporting **** and make that power for 40k, no you dont. I am not saying worship imports, but **** get your head out of your ass./ end rant.

you cant compare you car which had like what 2 grand in mods to a car that has probably over 20K in mods. if you had 20k in your car you would be running 8's

20K in a fox and it would be a daily driven 8 second car, that handles well and can be driven in the snow with a good set of snow tires...

$20,000!?!?!?!? I WOULD like to see you build a "nice" daily driven mustang that runs 8 seconds all day long for that price.

I see about $15,000 in the motor including a power adder which is low balling it. Another $5,000 for complete drivetrain. $1,500 for a fuel system, $1,500 for a cooling system

That's $23,000 just to make the car move from a dead stop. Now you gotta do suspension work, frame modifications, roll cage to tie the car together. etc.

Sorry for the rant, but it's NOT happening!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT- WOOPS, I didn't read the post above yours. SORRY, not thinking!!! In this case I combine my post with 25th in an attempt to spark some knowledge into 89white50's brain on the expense of a fast street car. A good guess would be around $80,000 when the car is all said and done. If you think this estimate is too high, you have never learned the "double what you think you're gonna spend" rule.

I hope all of you realize, 8 seconds is FAST. Very few 8 second cars are streetable, and it's definitely not possible on $20k. The turbo setup to make it streetable is going to be over $10k alone, roll cage and other fabrication another $10k, etc. A 10 second daily driver can be built for $20k, but certainly not 8. Woodrow, thanks for the rant.

I have a feeling that these guys who make these claims have NEVER seen, wrenched, or had anything to do with an 8 second car (or probably even a 10 second car for that matter). To them its all just drop $20,000 one dollar bills down and bang your going 8s and driving it to school and work everyday...

Some things people are forgeting about the Evo...

1..its a 4 wheel drive car which means it will eat up the 60 foot times and have very low ET's
2.. stock it ran high 12s low 13 sec 1/4 mile w/ approx 375hp
3 it is based directly from a very competitive rally car
5. As much as it pains me to say this..the Fox mustang stock was slooow. 14 sec 1/4 mile.. and its using old technology. only approx 250hp

I have driven a stock Evo with only the boost turned up and drag radials on all 4 wheels and ran a 12.8 and Im not too good at racing with a real light tree....so it wouldnt be a strech to run 10's with a couple grand in parts..

hell,... my friends 84 volvo 242 2.2L with a huge ass turbo runs low 13s ..and its a Volvo with Mechanical fuel injection.. And he only put 3 grand in the car including the 800 for the car...lol

and BTW volvo's rule but I still LUV my stang..

In the argument on "how much it cost to build a fast car" that is a number with a lot of varables. Drop 5K for your EVO, well, your going to put that kind of power down, of course nothing will break.... right? Guess what? Things are going to break. I have noticed that "misc." expences account for as much if not more than the actually cost of the build.

With those cars, they are not as easy to work on, (it will take more time) and parts will cost you more. 4 pistons in one of those will cost more than 8 for ours. Yes, there are lots of EVO's out there, but not enough for mass production of aftermarket parts. If you want to go fast, cheap, the best way is to get a light car, and put a SBC BBC, next choice would be a SBF, but from there the cost starts to skyrocket.

So your looking at that cost plus installation for these parts plus the cost of the car and it will run mid 10s for what 1 or 2 passes, you act as though nothing else will be needed. I guess the Body will need no Bracing, and I guess the Stock Transmission, Stock Bottom End, Stock Clutch, Stock Half Shafts, Stock CV Joints, ect. are all just going to hold up fine to this kind of power. It costs a ton of money to go fast and tons more to maintain a Fast Car, I think some Guys dont realize that sometimes. Look at the upkeep for a 12 Second Mustang, its not cheap!

The upkeep for a 12 second Mustang???

I add gas, change the oil and wash and wax it now and then, wtf kind of upkeep should I be doing?

The Evo costs more but also offers more than just performance. If were talking all out 100% performance, then yes buying ANY new car is retarded, when there are hacked up hulks in junkyards just waiting to be turned into 1/4 mile terrors. This guy built this car to serve more than one purpose and even though it costs money, it does what it does well...
