In that ad, from January, the car has a Dart 363, much preferable to the Boss the current owner believes it has. The plot thickens...

Don't know why I'm still interested. I did a google search hoping to find the owner that built it, and perhaps a better list of parts used. I guess if I found out that there's more to the fuel system, suspension, and confirmation of the internals, it's increase the value enough to reconsider my offer, but it's probably moot if the $24.5 offer wasn't fiction. I think this confirms my lack of faith in what the current owner says about it.

I agree. What would it cost to install? I'm guessing that's a $2k cost, starting from scratch, which is a factor in what I'm willing to pay.

At 25k...I'd rather build/mod my own fox body. I like cobras and understand their limited production value... but have no desire to buy a modded version. At that point they aren't worth anymore (in general) than a similarly modded "non" Cobra fox body.

Looks like a nice car though.

Yeah, the performance parts are gone, but it IS a Cobra, instead of Faux Cobra. The Cobra was the best looking version of the Fox, and I'm planning to apply some of its design cues on my car, including the spoiler for certain and possibly the lower rear fascia and front grill. If I owned a Cobra, it's looks would stay completely stock.

So, the 363 *might* be a Dart 363 with Scat forged & Diamond internals. That's about as solid as things get. Dream-build-ish (I went w/ billet stuff on mine). However, the top-end, fuel system, blower, and engine management is sub-optimal, unless this owner isn't right, which I consider a high probability.

A better car for the price would've been the 84' T-top notchback that was for sale with a mini tub and twin turbo built engine. That car was a great deal at $19k. This Cobra is worthless as far as the collectibility goes. This is just a nicely modded Fox. As far as picking apart the engine build I think people get too carried away with "why didn't they do bigger and better"? I don't really care for max effort builds on street cars. Maybe the goal was just to get to about 600rwhp safely? The parts used justified the goal did it not? Too many people under build the bottom end and then over boost it and spend life on jack stands. I'd rather see somebody overbuild the bottom end and then under boost it for a change. Sure there's more potential but it'll be more reliable for cruising and you should be able to abuse it safely. Just my opinion.

I agree 100%. I would never buy a highly modified Cobra. Everything that Ford did to make it special has been changed outside of the VIN. It might as well be a LX Hatch with a Cobra body kit on it.

I agree. That's what every part other than the bottom end seems like it was designed for. I just think it's a waste of a 1200+ hp lower. Who knows, though, there were probably designs on a future build.

I'm not knocking the motor... but $25k for a ruined Cobra, it should be better sorted, or be a real Cobra... or have all the original parts to put it back.
That's my deal... which is nothing more than my opinion.
Like I said, it looks like a straight, nice, well cared for Fox... and if it was a 33k mile original Cobra, I could justify the price.
