Coming back to Portland, Oregon soon and will need a place to live. Any info regarding safe, secure, apt complexes would be appreciated. Would like one with an enclosed garage to protect the Cobra. Gonna be going to PSU so something not too far away would make the commute easier. Beaverton is about the limit unless its near MAX cause I could take that to school I guess. Anyways, any info would be helpful.

If you want to throw quarters at me from your car, that's fine too....

not housing related.

But get on training unemployment insurance. You can get unemployment while collecting the GI bill when you go to school. Ask about it at the vetrans side of the unemployment office.

You will be eligable if your MOS does not have a civilian counter part. IE infantry, munitions, etc.

You can get at least 6 months out of it, possibly longer if the unemployment rate stays high.

As an E5 you can get $410 a week while you go to school. It helps a lot and allows you to go to school full time while using the GI bill. There is no requirement to find a job, as long as you stay in school for a certain amount of credits.

Also, the unemployment office has a seperate section for vetrans. There is no wait and it is usually staffed by Vets who have your best interest in mind. They can also hook you up with work study programs.

Anyways, good luck.

Ah, Oregon, it's not a state, it's a religion! And you better be a true believer if you are going to live there.

Jordan theres a couple of houses for lease near my house and ones only a few houses away and only 4 blocks from the max. There probably going for around 1000 to 1200 a month and the houses are only around 5 or 6 years old, fireplace 3 bedroom. 3 baths, 1600 plus footage, two car garages Also not far from the freeway so i can help you make the cardboard signs as long as you share the days maybe I can have monday threw thursday and you can have the prime times

if you don't mind vancouver there are apartments all over the place with good safe communitiesfor cheap...I live in Brentwood next to the mall...it is pretty quiet, very safe and there are garages available...I garage mine...it costs 70 bucks a month and I rent a 2 bedroom for 640 a month..there is one other mustang guy in the complex there too so you'd have a couple of stang brothers there!

no its a nice neighborhood, we just got a deal were renting from a family friend, I've seen a few around 800 a month though, mostly 1000 on up for a decent sized house, wich isnt bad considering the landlord will pay the property taxes (wich are spendy as hell in gresham at least) When we buy a house I may look at vancuver just because its close to portland, and I can drive to costco and get stuff without paying sales tax

Done it five days a week for the last 2.5 years and its no worse than the west side. Average time for me to get to PSU from the FAR NE corner (I am in the county, not city) is around 35-40 with traffic. Without I look at 20-25. Its definitely worth it to me.
