What's the ultimate goal here? A solid base to start a build on or a turn-key daily driver?

Honestly, it’s not entirely clear at this point. A little of both. I’d like something turn-key that I can drive and enjoy while building it up over time. Something that’s nice enough to drive safely but not so nice that I would feel bad if I left it out in the rain in a parking lot or something.

It's good you know what your looking for then. Focus on the mechanicals. I'd still want decent paint, but wouldn't have to be perfect.
