Are the GT and the cobra hood blankets the same? I just picked up a 03 cobra hood for my GT.. is has no blanket, so I'm curious if I can re-use mine or need to buy another.

To the best of my knowledge, they are not the same.

However, you don't have to use a hood blanket.

I'm aware of that. But it looks much cleaner with a blanket on.

I want to get a 03 Cobra hood for my 04 GT as well. Is it a direct fit? I've heard the front fascia of the GT doesn't match up right with the 03 Cobra hood though I don't see why not. Also do you know if when you wash the car, does any water get under the hood when you spray across the heat extractor vents? And where did you get the hood from? Thanks

1) Yes it's a direct fit. You heard wrong about it not fitting. The fit problem you're thinking of is when you try to fit a cobra front bumper on with a GT hood, there's a little bit of a hangover in front.

2) Water does get under the hood if you wash it.. especially on the one I bought because the vents are cut out. Supposedly the holes are right above the space between the radiator fan and the pullies, so nothing important gets wet (supposedly.)

3) I bought it off eBay.

A while back I spray painted my hood blanket with black krylon. Made it look like brand new and it is holding up great. Next time you have your hood blanket off, give it a try

Thanks for the info man. So if your hood had the vents cut out there's just an open space there? There's no black insert vent like on a real cobra hood?

There's no inserts in the holes on this hood (which is a "real" cobra hood.) Most cobra owners I guess either cut them so they hang down, or remove them entirely. You can get the actual inserts from Ford for like 30 bucks a piece.

I guess removing that piece helps in the heat extraction process.

I never did this, but see it at car shows often.

Plus, you have the capability to hose it off, without it acting like a sponge!
