stick some playdoh on your intake now, slam the hood, raise the hood, and measure the playdoh thickness...that's how much clearance you have where the playdoh was. Do a bunch of tests, and figure out what you have.

i don't think you'll be able to use a spacer with a stock hood because i have the same intake and even when i removed the underhood padding i can still see places where the hood touches the intake.

The first reply with useful info.

No, you cannot use a spacer with your Typhoon and a stock hood. At least not one tall enough to clear the non EFI valve covers.

All hoods/chassis/engines/motormount (sag) are slightly different - when it comes to tight tolerances, what works on one might not work on another. The most useful tip here was the one about PlayDough. Go to KMart and buy a 99 cent can of PlayDough. Find the place where your clearance is smallest and shape the Dough so it's a bit taller/thicker than that. Place it on the high point, and gently close the hood. Open the hood, remove the PlayDough and measure YOUR actual clearance. Now you know how much spacer you can run.
