What are fiberglass hood owners using for prop rods??

I am looking for something out of the ordinary, like the locking rod from Lokar.

Quick91LX used to have the metal pole from a street sign to prop up the hatch of his fox. Lmao

i grabbed a hood prop off a wrecked 86 bronco we had. I drilled a small hole in the inner fender for the plastic clip to go thru(the clip that holds the rod to whatever surface). the other end of the rod has a simple 90 bend in it. So, I fabbed up a U shaped bracket out of stainless. I opened the hood to normal height and found where the rod needed to go to hold it at the desired height. I then drilled two rivet sized holes, and riveted the u shaped piece to the bottom of the hood. It looks fairly neat and works well, so I can't complain. I might be able to take some pics if you want.

I just sold one of those (brand new) on Ebay for $28.50

I sold it because I could not find a good way to mount it so it would work. So, I reverted back to my piece of metal tube (electrical conduit) painted to match my car.

I've been trying to figure out a way to use a 3rd generation Corvette unit. It's a small, simple lift-to-lock, lift again-to-unlock thingie that may work, but the Corvette hood opens to near-vertical, which takes some of the weight off the support, so it may not work.
