hood recall?

Have any of you seen this old hood recall for 94-95 stangs? I have the slit on the front of my hood, i guess it's a recall.

I remember taking my car in for a hood recall. Ford basically put some sort of adhesive on the hood lining or something. Peace

Don't think they make it valid after 10 years. Try it.

If yours is affected, go to a dealership and give em your VIN...they can see if it applies...I got that recall in the mail many times over, along with 3 others...

I remember something about the hood possibly separating at high speed. I never got mine done cause it was going to take too long at the dealership. Haven't noticed any splitting yet.

The top layer is fierglass, and the bottom layer is steel. In a front end collision, the hood would shatter and cause pieces of flying debris. Their solution? Cut a big hole in the bottom portion of the hood and squeeze out a bunch of glue down there. Mine had it done when I bought it.

Chris, i had the recall done several years ago and saw the hack job they did on my hood a few days ago when I removed my hood blanket for clearance

Terrible isn't it? Makes me almost embarassed to open the hood sometimes. But most everybody's looking at the engine when I do.

I worked a wreck involving a 1995 V6. The car's upper portion of the hood seperated, flew up in the air at 70mph, and then struck a car following it.

BTW...Ford's solutions for fixing problems are always piss poor. They fix everything with either a fuse or glue. Instead of fixing it right by REPLACING the part they save some money and choose the shoddy way.

Took my hood liner off yesterday and it's in really nice shape, should i go in and check as well?

I thought it was only for 95 & 96 year models ......


EDIT: I just seen that I read the "Windstar" part. 94-95 Stangs built between certain dates were the target as well .......

I had it done on mine years ago. Didn't really notice what they did until last year when I went to pull the blanket off and saw the 2 areas in the front they cut out. It really stands out because the area behind the cutouts is white-ish

if memory serves the recall was only for cars that were involved in accidents.the adhesive they used on the hoods would seperate at high speeds only if the car was hit somewhere,didnt have to be the front just anywhere.i never took mine in cuz it was never involved in an accident.

They better honor it. I had an 84 300ZX when I was 16. I took it to a mechanic that specialized in Z's, and he was amazed to see that the fuel injector recall hadn't been done on the car (leaky FI's). So I take it to a Nissan stealership in 97, and got a brand new complete fuel rail assembly on my 150k+ mile rust bucket
Speaking of, I just got a recall for the cruise control buttons on my 97 Expy. It seems that they can light on fire with the truck running, or just sitting there in the middle of the night
