I have an '87 fox body 5.0 with a little over 300 hp. It's a 5-spd with a King Cobra clutch and a Hurst shifter. What a fun car to drive. However, there is absolutely no way I can get off the line with spinning the tires and kicking sideways. Even if I come off the line slow through the first half of first gear and then mash it down around 2500 I STILL break loose everywhere.

My question is this:

If I put drag radials on the back, will I still be able to drive the car in wet conditions? Or will I have no traction at all?

And if I won't have any traction, IS there a tire I can put on that will allow me to hook up better without making it TOO dangerous in the rain?

You can drive the car now, just dont be to heavy on the gas and shift early, what kind of supension you running? as for the drag radials i dont know if your spinning constantly now with d/r's in the rain i cant picture a good outcome. what tires you running now?

Supposedly DR's are very dangerous in the rain BUT... I think that the people who crash their drag radial equipped stangs in the rain are just idiots. DONT DRIVE FAST IN THE RAIN!!! problem solved. Here's my advice, drag radials are expensive and will only last about 5k miles on the street at best. It would be cheaper for you to do what i did and pick up a set of 15" ten holes for cheap (10$) and put DR's on them and swap the wheel/tire combo out whenever you go to the track or just feel like hookin up and eating some rice. Theres no sense in cruising down the highway or daily driving a stang with DR's.
