So I have been hearing a leak in the exhaust for some time. Knowing that my cat was shot I assumed that is where it was coming from. Turns out it is in one of my headers... its now getting pretty obnoxious sounding and horrible when down shifting....bad popping. :notnice:

My question is how bad is this or more importantly can i wait to fix it? I'm going back to school in beginning of sept and the car is rarely used and I really don't have the money to get new headers since these are pretty rusted and def. need to be replaced, I hear horror stories on the $$ for new LT's and I am a broke college student. Suggestions?

Well, the carbon monoxide getting into the cowl vent could potentially kill you, but aside from that, it's probably not going to do any real harm to the car. I bet it loses some MPG though, because it's going to introduce additional oxygen into the exhaust, so the sensor is going to read lean and add more fuel.

a set of stock headers shouldn't be too hard to come by on ebay or CL, you or an exhaust shop could always patch the hole with some high temp epoxy http://www.permatex.com/products/Au..._repair/exhaust_system_maintenance_repair.htm

Try this first. I cracked my EGR tube when putting the blower on, but didn't feel like buying a new tube and installing it because it looked like a PITA. So instead, I went to autozone and bought some nasty-ass black goop that said it withstood 1500* temps. I slathered it on the crack, and 8 months later it's still sealed.
