How do 96-98s run blown?

I figure since doing a PI headswap bumps up the compression ratio, you can't get blown then, so how does a relatively stock non-PI 2v run? Whats tehb est setup? Anyone have any dyno graphs? Throw out all the info, results, everything.

Honestly you can make a non-PI setup fast also with the right setup. Right now I am still n/a with untouched heads and bottom end with 136K on my stock motor and I dyno'd at 242 rwhp and 273 rwtq. The main hold back on the '96-'98 cars is the intake and cams. All you have to do is get a PI intake and PI cams, exhaust and it will get you close to the 230 rwhp mark. After that put on a blower and you should be able to hit the 300 mark with no problem.

MM&FF did an install and dragstrip test on a 97 GT with a Procharger. If memory serves it ran a 12.70-something. I can't remember what issue it was, but I have it set aside at home because I have a 98 GT and have thought about getting the kit. The rwhp on the dyno was 323 I think and the car had a catback and 3.73 gears. I think they borrowed someones slicks too. It's been a while since I've read the article.

I'll try to see what issue it was an post it. There was aheadline at the top of the cover that said "137 HP Bolt On - NO BULL****" or someything like that.

Shi*ty! You can't get much more stock than my 98. Aside from the MagnaFlow cat-back, it is 100% stock. Even has a Ford air filter.

I took it to the track and it ran a very cruddy 15.7 at 93 mph. The 60 foot time was an average (for stock Fox Mustang's) 2.12. I tried a second time and it was almost identical. I think with a little "abuse" I could have squeezed a 15.5 out of it, but it's my daily driver and I couldn't afford to hurt it.

That is funny because when my car was stock with just a shifter in it I went 14.94 @ 93.25 with a 2.21 '60 foot.

As soon as I get my 4.10's and everything installed I am going back for a good 13 second slip!

What do you guys mean by PI??

PI is what the '99+ Gt's had for heads, cams and intakes. '96-'98 had non-PI. It has been proven that the non-PI heads are not as crappy as what everyone once thought they were if you give them the same cams & intake from a '99+ car.

my saleen is relatively stock engine wise, except for all the parts needed for the blower set up obviously, runs really really well...

its got the regular old 2v heads and stock intake.

ive got a set of pi heads and longtubes to go on though, along with the Pi intake should see some nice numbers...

havent managed to get it to the strip yet, its real hard when the weather over here sucks so much ass..

EDGE

I have a all stock 4.6 motor in a 97 Saleen with just a TDC Turbo kit.It put out 393hp 450tq @7PSI and 443hp 496tq @9PSI.I would say Turbo is the way to go.Like I said the Car has no other mods except a Pro 5.0 shifter.

TDC? I don't really know all the turbo makers like I do the blower makers (vortech, procharger, paxton, kenne bell). The only turbo kits I've seen have been like over $6,000, and that is WAY WAY out of my price range...but a Vortech kit doesn't sound too bad, plus it comes with everything I need, probably be less expensive to get installed.

Hmmm, I ran a 15.0 @ 92.7 2.3 60ft with just gears and a DA of 2400+ ft.

Yea I know what ya mean about the price. The TDC kit is a stage 2 and it costs 5500 just for the kit.But look at the increase in power.Stock these come with 218 HP right? And that is not at the wheels.
