I know some cars came with 3.08's and Im starting to think thats what I have. I ran sage2k last night and we have pretty much the same mods. He has a vert, both are 5 speeds. From a roll I pulled on him, then from a start I bogged and he spun, I say its even, then I started pulling on him. He has 3;73's and I dont see how my car could pull on him with my 2.73's. I know verts are heavier, but that much? Or is it my straight pipes giving me that much more top end?

Any way, where is the tag that says what gears you have and how do you decode it?

hey dude, yeah it was an even launch and close and you were inching away at the top end
i had about 400lb on ya (260lb vert and 170lb passenger) so that would help explain things a bit.

Now as to calculating your gear ratio try this
jack your rear end up
mark a dot on your drive shaft with some chalk
put car in neutral
mark your tire with chalk
have someone turn your tire 1 single rotation
count how many times the driveshaft spins around
spin around exactly 3 times you probably have 3.08's
less than 3 and you have 2.73s
lil more than 3 and you may have 3.27s
its ghetto but it works, thats how i calculated mine
also at 2k rpm im going about 60mph (gps confirmed) which equates to 3.73s, but your tach is off so you cant really do that

I know my tach is EXACTLY at 1500 at 60 MPH in 5th gear. I was watching it before I changed my gauges.
And I found the tag on the door and there is an M under the AX tag.

I dont have time to jack it up noc, but I might do that later.

And yea that was a good race man.

according to http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/608.shtml
with stock tires 245/45/17s at 60mph with 2.73s you are doing 1457rpm
with 3.08s you'd be doing 1644
likely you have 2.73s
which is good cause that means a 3.73 upgrade will be that much more noticeable

My guess is 14.4x w/ gears, 14.6 with what you have now... come out to the track on the 7th and find out for sure.

If I had another daily driver Id throw them on it a heart beat.

Anyone here put some real slicks on a pretty much stock car and not break it?
