I dont know if the guy that converted my car to MAF put the new computer in.

Heres what i do know:
1) the car will not run at all with the MAF sensor dis-connected or start
2) it has a 91 motor in it
3) it is an 86 so it originally had an 86 motor in it

Now is there a way to tell if the computer is the newer MAF version by looking at it?

Look at the code on the sticker. Link There is a chart on that page that gives all the different computers and what they came in.
Every computer has a main sticker on the 60-pin connector that identifies the computer and holds the most information about the computer. If you have an EEC in your hands and wonder what it came out of this list is for you. If you are looking for an EEC in a junkyard or swap meets this is for you too. If you just wondered what computers Ford used in which vehicle this is also for you. I would not be upset if you printed this page off for your records, in fact I recommend taking it with you so you have an advantage finding that special EEC.

Just curious,

lets say i have the same 86' computer in my car, would it be possibly for the mass air flow to still function, what im trying to say is when I unplug my mass air flow the car will not run, So it is obviously functioning to some degree. Now is it possibly to make it function using the 86 computer, which explains why my car is running like ****...
