I'm getting my car repainted but to save some cash and to ensure quality I'm going to do the door jambs, trunk, and other little inside areas myself. I want them to be flat black. What do I need to do as far as prep? Which paint should I use? What's the deal here, what's the score, what's next?

Unless you have all of the tools and materials you need to use I would just say let the shop deal with it. If you're going to do it yourself, wetsand the area with 400, and just spray the paint on and you're done. Sounds easy huh? 
be prepaired to cover up the entire car just to paint thoes little areas so you wont get paint everywhere... but since you're getting it repainted anyways, you would only have to worry aboutthe lights, mirrors, and windows. PPG makes great products.
