I ordered a set for when I rebuild my shortblock, does a machine shop have to put these in?

i would have them do.....they are kinda tricky to get in, plus if they put knicks in the bearings the shop is liable not you....have them hot tank the block, install new cam bearings and freezed plugs, should only cost you around 90$ for all of it

I've always been curious, where are the freeze plugs located on our blocks?

I agree, as long as your block is at the machine shop getting tanked, checked and any machine work have them do the cam bearings and freeze plugs.

price may differ a little, but the priciple is the same. i've watched them do it on one of my engines, simple process, but requires some finesse...
