How Fast Have You Gotten Your GT?

I've been reading around here for a while now, just have yet to make a post, so this seemed like a good place to start. I saw the "how fast have you got your v6?" thread in the V6 forum, so I figured the GT forum could use one. Enjoy!

P.S. I was also wondering if anyone has yet to break the 147-149 top speeds hit by Motor Trend and Car and Driver with their modded '05 GT's?

HAHA, both acutally. When I was going that fast, the steering wheel felt like jello cause if I moved it a centimeter, I was scared that my car would fly into the field. Also, I gave up on taking off my light covers at night because it was just annoying to do eeeeeevery night. Sooo, I just leave them on, which means when you are driving faster than Michael Jackson can touch a child, it is very hard to see with extra-dim lighting (minus my super bright fog lights). Well, I encourage everyone to go out and drive this fast because when I got out of my car I still felt like I was being pushed against my seat... fun times with a mustang!

I wouldn't encourage that kind of driving. If you want to do it, that's your problem. But someone could come on here, see your post, go take their car out up to 140, and wreck it, then blame it on you. Seriously. Not everyone can control a vehicle at those speeds, also, if you were to hit gravel or standing water or anything, even the best driver would have trouble controlling it. I know I did, I was doing about 135 mph when I hit some standing water, and when you're going that fast, it's very easy to hydroplane. There was no way to control it. Tried my darnedest, but it in the end, I was flown into a telephone pole. Check out my cardomain page below, see the pics, it's not pretty. I'm VERY lucky to be alive.

That said, I'm not being a stiff here. Driving fast can be fun, but it must be on a known road, daytime I would definitely recommend as it's almost impossible to see at night going that fast (my wreck was at 3 a.m.). Just don't want anyone to end up in my situation, or worse. I still can't walk without crutches, I have to use a wheelchair in stores, and I have to take 2 vicodin before I can even get out of bed. My wreck was on 3/31, so as you can tell, it's been awhile. No picnic.

I have had my 1999 GT up to 140mph on an occasion or two and 100+ on several others. Even went 137 in my 1994 GT. But never on a wet or traffic heavy road. The chances of something going wrong are too many.

to weeks ago, i hit the 135 mph with my GT at the german autobahn, before a porsche boxter entered the left side of the road - with under 100 mph - damn little toy cars! :nonono:
Every morning i drive to work with 100-110 mph at the rush hour. I think it's a good travell-speed and the mpg is ok. The pony lies sporty on the road, but the hood vibrates over 95 mph.

Its more funny to drive small bendy country roads with 70 mph or a little bit more :nice:

While I was back in Germany for some dental stuff a couple weeks ago, I was just be boppin down the autobahn. Not a lot of traffic, I glanced down and noticed that I was cruising at about 130mph. It felt like it had a lot more to give, but I backed off cause it only had about 200 miles on it.
