How long should I wait before I take it back?

Just had the clutch replaced in the GT. There is a plastic bag type sound coming from the car now, in the rhythm of my exhaust note, but it's not the exhuast.
Also a burning clutch smell. I'm hoping both of these things will go away. How long should I wait before I take it back to the dealership?

I had my clutch replaced by the gay dealership. was making strange noises and TOB was chirping as soon as I got it back. Took it back to them, they tore it apart again, said it was the tranny, had it replaced, still same issues, took it back again, they took it apart again, said now it was clutch and since it was aftermarker nothing they can do, they were lucky I had no bombs or anything because they would all be gone. Hopefully they don't try that with you. Good luck with it. I would take it back asap.

Mine's not.
Yeah, they did charge me quite a bit for it to be sounding like this..You'd think for $877 they'd do a better job.

I wish mine was still under warranty, it wasn't. I had to pay labor each time they took it apart. I fought pretty good for it, but in the end they it came down to it being an aftermarket part and they were not responsible for it.

Did you pay for the tranny, Bakos?

And, Nighthawk, I called Strictly Performance after I had it towed to the dealership. They said they'd charge me about $600 for the clutch, and labor.

Yep, I had to pay for the tranny also, and I know there was nothing wrong with it. In the end I had to pay about $1600 just for a simple clutch install. Hopefully they did mess up yours and will take the blame for it.

Yikes. I'm going to take it in first thing in the morning..It's also grinding a little when I put it into fourth.

Not sure if the noise is an exhaust leak or not...It kind of sounds like it, but not sure. Still getting a burning smell.

OEM.
I could've had a Spec stage 1 or 2 for less money if I had taken it to Strictly.

The freakin pedal engages like 1/4 inch off the floor.

It almost feels like they put an aluminum flywheel in...Very little distance between engaged, and disengaged... They must not have re-surfaced the flywheel.

no, sounds to me like the clutch cable is not adjusted right.. the burning smell scares me a little but lets see what they say..

I feel bad for you guys that can't work on your own cars. The only shot you have at getting quality work is finding a honest mechanic that is knowledgeable in mustangs.

The problem with dealers and many private shops is you have no clue who is working on your car. Many techs are not even real techs now, the dealers hire cheap labor and reward hacks and thieves and punish the good honest knowledgeable techs..

The way just about ever dealer runs these days is they hire a couple of good techs and have a bunch of kids and unqualified help... As of now ford only requires that some of the techs are trained and the rest can work pretty much under the certifications of the trained techs..

This may change soon, Ford may be going away from shop competency... If tech competency happens then these hacks will be out of a job.. The dealers are trying and have succeeded in recent years in blocking this change but I really hope it happens soon..

I could fix it myself, I do have an associates in automotive tech. from TSTC, the only reason I usually end up taking it to get fixed is because I never have time to work on it myself. That, and the lack of a lift discourage me.

BTW, I have to wait until Monday...Their only driveline tech is at a school.
