Hey guys, recently I got a new set of mac mufflers. While trying to install them I pulled off tha stock ones n tossed them. However It took me a while to get the old ones off cuz I didn't have a sawzall n I ended up calling it a night before I could put the new ones on. So for a couple of days i've been driving with no mufflers at all. Sadly enough I love the sound. I know that putting mufflers back on it will quiet down the sound a bit but do you think it will be really noticeable? Also would getting a new set of headers and a new h pipe make it any louder? I'm just curious wether or not I'm gonna be satisfied with my exhaust when it's all done.

Well MAC muflers aren't going to be nearly as loud as no mufflers, but you'll get a much better tone. I love the way they sound.

get some electric cut outs. they have this neat little gadget where you hit a switch and the valve opens and by-passes all your exhaust components and just dumps it like open headers. i heard them on their website and they are nice! then you close it up and it goes through your exhaust system like normal.

if i tossed on a new set of headers (shorties) and a new H pipe (with cats so i could pass emissions) wouldn't that make it a lot louder? Axtually I could also just get an offroad h pipe and long tubes and hang on to my stock h pipe and headers so when it comes time for inspection i can toss them back on. (i'm getting my car inspected today so i'll have some time before i'd have to toss the stock stuff back on)

If you want longtubes, just get a catted h to go along with them. That is, if you can pass emissions with longtubes in your state. I'm pretty sure you can down here in Arizona.

I had no idea longtubes were illegal anywhere.

Its where you can bypass your mufflers with a switch and it turns your mufflered car into a dumped car in seconds...lol.

I have full length long tube headers (BBK) off-road h-pipe and mac 2 1/2 mufflers and tail pipe and the thing is loud as hell. I get pulled over occassionally and harrassed by police officers. I have never gotten a ticket as there are no emssions testing here and I pass all noise restrictions by the skin of my teeth. You will be pleased!

Mac catbacks are one of the best sounding catbacks out there in my opinion.

well I got the mufflers on now. I'm pretty dissapointed. It's not the fault of the mufflers or anything like that. First off i've driven around for about 2-3 months with a big ass hole in one of my mufflers, then for about a week with no mufflers at all. I figure after I get my car inspected tomorrow i'm going to go with a set of bbk longtubes and an off road h pipe like wildstang did and see how that sounds. I know the sound is still there and all it's kinda just pushed further back, which i'm not used to. I'm used to feeling it right under the driver's seat and now it's back by the tail pipes. But once the longtubes and h pipe are on, if i'm still not satisfied, i'm going to get that plate so i could bypass the mufflers.

One thing i'm wondering, because I got a set of custom made tail pipes do you think that could have anything to do with it? They dip down further than any aftermarket tail pipes and they are turned down at the end, i think they're only about 2" also

I'd read how it takes a little while for the mufflers to sound right, like after you install them they will get a little deeper or something, think that might have something to do with it?
