There are specific break-in procedures required for new vehicles. The dealership should be able to tell him or possibly even in the owners manual.
I shouldn't say "required"...more like "recommended" for as we know, there are plenty of new cars sitting on the lot that get broken in pretty quick on their test drive.
My fiance bought a 2002 Stratus R/T brand new two years ago and I think all we did for the first 500 miles was take it easy, not bring the revs up too quick, and vary the speeds (don't stay at a constant speed..i.e...don't set cruise control).
