cool debate, i followed the svtp thread for a while. My 96 GT takes 6.5 to the full line. Sometimes I just fill like dumping 7 in there but I don't know for sure.

Same here, i would always get my oil changed on my 96 gt and never had a problem till like 2-3yrs ago when i would leave i would ALWAYS be a qt low. Come to find out their computers said 5qt's and i called ford and they also said 5 but when i checked my owners manual it said 6qt's and thats right to the full line on mine.

On another note and not to hi-jack but if i park on a hill even for 5min my car always says a qt low and no matter how long i drive it the oil never comes back, the light remains on, dipstick shows a qt low and there isnt any on the ground or anywhere on the motor, any ideas where its going?

Are there different oil pans or dipsticks for 4.6 engines that can be causing this debate?

I could see the spiral dipsticks being inconsistant.

My 98 Cobra says 6.25 quarts with filter. My "03 GT says 5.0 but they have the identical Oil Pans. I run 6.25 qts. in both cars with no problems for either engine. . . .
