i know the 86 heads are basically crap and the 94-98's are basically gt40 heads that came stock on explorers.. i can get me a set along with alot of the other junkyard performance stuff so i just need to know wether these things will be worth it.. see all the mods in my sign... i was thinkin maybe since i had good amounts of air comin in from the gt40 and MAF.. then the air came to the heads and got restricted horribly and kinda ruined the potential of everything else if its one that will help my car alot then i will get me a set and get a valve job and all that so there like knew and maybe a port job.. who knows but are these things worth it?

well yea they'll help, but if you get 97.5+, theyre gt40p heads, which flow better than normal 40s, but barely, and dont justify the price of the headers youll have to buy for the P's.

No good at all if the piston comes up and makes a wreck out of the valves. There are folks that have claimed to swap a set of E7s onto 86 flat top pistons but I've never seen a successful transplant first hand. The couple that I've been a part of all had piston to valve clearance problems and ended up needing piston notching. Any OEM head with larger valves than E7s will be a no-go for sure. Get a set of TFS heads and toss in nice cam and call it a day.

oh I totally forgot about the flat-top pistons. Heres what my cars got, a 97 explorer engine. The internals are all forged, and already have the P heads. The downfall there is that you need to buy p specific heads or lt's.
