This is just for fun and to learn as I have no where near close enough saved up for forced induction, yet. However say i did and ran a supercharger with the mods I have how much boost can you run with stock pistons, rods, etc? I remember hearing something about Ford using hyper-eucentric(sp?) pistons...? Anyway thanks!

The limit of the OEM block is usually based upon hp as opposed to boost

A rule of thumb is around 450 rwhp and you are in block splitting territory

Another thing about boost

Its just a measurement of back pressure

An example to be able to relate would be

Stock stang with a S-Trim might put out 12 to 14 lbs

Upgrade the major combo parts with better flowing aftermarket parts
Keep the blower pulley the same ... OR ... the blower rpm unchanged

Your boost would drop down because the restriction to airflow has gone
down due the the better flowing combo parts

Bottom line is ..............
Amount of boost is not always a factor or measurement of hp produced

Grady.could not have put it any better. However the amount the block can take also has to do with how high you are revving it. But I would say 500 to 600 is common. Thats not tio say its going to pop right away. But your taking your chances.

I def wouldnt go boost crazy on stock internals and block. A block isnt gonna crack at a certain hp number, but obviously the more you make the better chance you have of something going wrong. If you have a good safe tune 500-530 rwhp should be ok on a stock block but obviously is no guarantee. Avoid detonation and all will be fine.

Good to see things which don't leave doubts

As for the range of 500 to 600 you talked about .........

Split the range at 550 fwhp and do the math

550 x .85 (driveline loss & stick trans) = 468 rwhp which is just about what
most peeps say is the point you wanna be concerned

again ... just a rule of thumb

Sure ... some have split blocks with less
and
Some have made more with no problems

idk if that was meant to be a smart remark but ill take it as no. Anyway, you cant say for sure the block is going to blow at X hp. but the 500-600FWHP is a good estimate. which yea like you said is ~450rwhp. Some people have held more some people way less. This is a really good link to an article that can give some good info.

lol thats what I figured its just that things said over the internet lose that certain something to make it clear lol. I wish they would have made this a 4 bolt main block.... Then those newer stangs would be in trouble for sure, lol.
