1996 Saleen S281 Mustang Supercharged $8,500 OBO

I am contemplating buying this car. How much do they usually go for and what are the power numbers? I suppose the Saleen is essentially just a 1996 npi GT with a supercharger and body kit slapped on.

The 1996 S281 Saleen had 215 hp. It has a Vortech in the one listed so its got some decent power I would imagine.

It does look to be kept clean form the picture and has low miles. Might be worth getting if you want to make a show car out of it.

The '95 saleen had a 5.0, which is a lot cheaper to modify than the first-gen modular's are. They also respond much better to non-FI mods.

the sweet saleen's of that time period are the S351's. They had the 351 motor and made hella power. But i think there were just a few made and they still sell for 60K or some crazy number.

Saleen left the 5.0 in their cars till 1999. Unlike ford which switched to modular in 1996...

I'd say to stop looking at it as a Saleen and starting looking at it as a Supercharged Mustang GT. How would you approach a car like that? How was the work done? Who did it? Who did the tuning? Was it setup correctly with the right parts.

If all that checks out, than you got the bonus that it's a Saleen mustang. Of course it's tough to see if it has the nice options like the Alcon brakes, etc.

$8500 for a 60K miles 12-year old Saleen might not be that bad. I'd try tof r $7000-7500. It's a buyer's market right now esp with the ongoing economic situation.
