My first trip to the track got me a 14.7 @ 96.6mph. After a few more trips, I got it down to 14.0 @ 99.6mph. With Nitrous I was able to get to 13.0 @ 107.9mph.

Now, I see guys running times as fast as 12.6 @ 107.8mph. Is it reasonable to strive to improve my driving skills another 4 tenths, all else being the same? I'd rather not just spend more money on the car. I want to wring out as much as I can out of what I have.

Thanks,
Gabe

I shift from the lever that comes out of the center console.

Naw for real tho' I shift at 6k. Where do you shift? 104mph N/A? That's fast. I'm sure your cam has a lot to do with that trap speed.

Here's my mods:
Pulleys
Catted x-pipe
FMS Headers
3.55 gears

Im sure we can take 4-6 tenths off by putting some slicks on that snake Gabe

and another 2-3 tenths if I was to drive it

A buddy of mine with TF heads, E303 cam, and a cobra intake in his '94GT went to the track with me one day. The best he could manage was a 14.0 at like 102mph. He asked me to drive it. I had never even ridden in the car before and I suddenly found myself behind the wheel. My one and only pass netted a 13.6 at 105mph. The difference was I raced a lot and he didn't. The "diver mod" is one of the best you can make. I was running 12.7's at a little over 106mph with 1.91 60's on nitto DR's.

I get 1.9 60 foots.

Will - Yeah, slicks would usre do the trick...if I could learn to left-foot brake in a burnout.

6k is too high of a shift point. with a cobra you might want to try 5,300-5,500.

1.9 is a decent 60'. maybe you should let someone make a pass see if they could pull more mph. the mph should be higher n/a and on the spray.

i think experience goes a long way. my friend has a 1999 cobra and his best pass ever in it was a 14.3 @ 100 with a 2.2 60' and i took it for 3 passes and got 2 13.9s @ 101 and a 13.8 @ 102 all with 1.9 60' times but hes only been racing for about a year and ive been hitting the strip every chance i get for about 4 years now.

Yeah, you usually don't want to push your car down the track.
