I was thinking about buying a bassani catted x-pipe and doing shorties later on, but now im thinking about doing LTs with a short x-pipe. I don't have the proper equipment to do this myself. And I damn sure don't have the time because I work full time and go to college full time. So I have a few questions. First, how much would I be charged to have someone install LTs? Second, how low will LTs hang? I want to lower my car between 1 and 2 inches and I don't want ground clearance to be a big issue. Last but not least, If I get a tune after the install, will the tune keep my check engine light off? Or should I just say screw it for now and get gears next?

ok couple things man. i can either do the install for you when i come back in town, which is somewhat often & cut you a break on price, or i can get you in touch with my buddy who is a GREAT mechanic & a mustang nut. he actually taught me how to do half the stuff i know - including lt installs

lt's won't hang much lower at all. my car is lowered 2" in the front with the coil overs & no problems at all. just have to be a lil more careful around big speed bumps, but you usually hit the mid-pipe before the headers

mil's will get rid of the cel light. also, you'll need 02 extensions. other than that you're good to go, unless you wanna get some new header gaskets

when you do the gears PM me, i'll get my buddy to install them for you. i wouldn't trust many people around there to do them. i made that mistake once & the only people that will do that install will be me & my buddy, or mph; period

Cool thanks, it's nice to have someone near me that knows his ****. By the way I was gonna ask you where I can get a good tune around here. I heard about the only place around is "Upgrades" in h-town. Are they any good. I'll definately be wanting a good tune after im done with all my gear and exhaust upgrades.

only two shops that i'd trust tuning my car #1 MPH, #2 modular depot.

i personally wouldn't want anyone tuning my car other than tim. the man knows what he's doing & a great guy to boot. & YES, it's worth the drive. after i move back my car will be driven down there for everything that i can't do. it's about 7 hours from you, but worth it.

BUT, you really don't 'need' a tune with those two things. you can get the mil's for the LT's & a speed cal for the gears & you're set. i didn't get a tune, until all my bolt ons & after i installed my cams. it certainly couldn't hurt & you'd pick up some power, but not necessary

I paid $420 for Mac ceramic LT's with extensions and the install ran $450, but it took some shopping to find both of those prices.

Bad angle to see how far they hang down, but it's not much. I have Steeda springs and it dropped about 1 1/2". I only hit a speed bump once and that was because I didn't see it in time and hit it pretty fast. My buddy said he saw it but he just decided to yell "Yeeehaaaw" aka Dukes of Hazard style.
Gears and LT's are both good mod's. I know your spending some serious money on those, with install, but a programmer will clear the MIL light, take care of the speedo and give another little boost in power and responsiveness. At least that's what I noticed with the predator. SCT is good too.

I bought the SLP Creamic coated LT's for www.mustangtuning.com for $683 with the promotion code "stangnet" for a 5% discount.

My car is also lowered with Steeda Sport Springs and I haven't had a problem with clearance.. in fact for some reason where the X is in my mid-pipe hangs lower than the headers lol.

I work full time and go to school full time, just had to get my days off scheduled right

Either way you'll love em!

Damn for those prices I might as well just do gears next then my PI swap. Then after that I'll worry about LTs and a mid-pipe.

Because people will pay those prices. Hopefully 4.6 mods will become as cheap as some of the 5.0 stuff.

Well i dont really know yet. Right now I don't have enough money for anything. Well....i do probably have enough for gears but not enough to have them installed. I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best mod to go with next. If LTs are going to cost over $1000 installed, then I might as well save a little more and buy my PI parts instead. I'm planning on doing the PI swap by spring (no real point in doing it during winter). If I have the parts to do the swap in say.....april or may, do you think you and your friend could help me out with the install, or do you know anyone that could do it for a good price. I was thinking about taking my vacation in florida in the spring time and just taking a **** load of money with me and stopping at MPH on the way. That way they can do my pi swap and tune it for me. But if I'm gonna do that, I should probably just not buy anything for my car right now and start saving for that. I can't think of a better place to do the swap and tune than MPH.

yeah i got quoted like 1200 for slp headers plus install...i think i might just do cams first to get a better sound & more performance gains...and itll probably make me respect all the money to install headers b/c ill get full potential of the cams plus the performance gains of LT's as well
