How much hp can one possibly gain by a tune up?

When I came home for spring break I drove the Stang a couple times and it seemed like normal. My parents then got a tune up for it (don't know how long since the last one though, at least 4 years) then I drove it the other day and it seems considerably more powerful. Is it possible that we gained some hp? If so, how much could we have possibly gained?

Depends not too much that it is really noticeable, but it can make the car run smoother with a little more power(Probably not noticeable), and thats if previous settings were off, or really bad sparkplugs etc.. depends on how long last interval was between last tune up.

If the timing was off, worn spark plugs, mis-gapped points, dried out vacuum advance etc., you could gain a considerable amount.

I had my 302-my last motor dyno tuned. It registered 198 rwhp.....two days later and a whole lotta cash 246 rwhp. New plugs, timing, and a carb rebuild...removed the choke,changed boosters and jets jb

Really depends on how bad the tune was before.
Heck, I've seen a twin turbo 5.0 gain over 100 HP at the rear wheels by just adding more fuel pressure, lol

These results don't really apply to a naturally aspirated motor, but 10-15 HP isn't unreasonable.
