How much is a good tune? What happens?

Just curious how much a good tune costs...I really have no clue.
I'm not even sure how much if any Dyno time is involved? LOL

I just don't want to be sticker shocked tommorrow...LOL

I have a new ported eaton blower and new denso iridum IT22 plugs gapped .35 and a new 2.8 non slip upper on her...with a K&N FIPK and an SLP Loud Mouth one...

Not sure how long that takes and what the procedures are?

Ok I did some reading and I have a fairly good idea now...

So I wonder what kind of wide band sensors the various pro shops in the areas use? There is a great article in MM&FF this month on tunning....pretty cool.

14.7:1 is the optimal fuel burn ratio...but at WOT maybe it's 12.5:1 and if it's a super, turbo or nitrous ride it's some where between 11.5:1 - 12.3 at WOT. Very cool article. Anyone went through this and got some questions answered on the injector fuel curves? I'm just curious as hell now....

I was contemplating a mail order custom tune...but I'm not sure how in the hell they can work with a custom port on the super? I mean there is no way. I think it comes down too quality vrs quantity...a mail order custom get's you closer then say a stock Predator Tune which does not even attempt ported blowers....So I"m wondering how much more I"m going to be getting with a custom dyno tune as opposed to a mail order tune?

I would highly recommend a dyno tune as opposed to a mail order tune. While many of the major companies probably have a tune on file that fits your combo, they are working without knowing atmospheric conditions, or the exact conditions of your engine. Every terminator mustang, or any other vehicle for that matter, will vary in power output at the wheels. This is true for any two vehicles of the same model. As such, it is best to work up a tune for each vehicle on a dyno. This way, things are tweaked to fit the individual car. I went the mail-order chip route with my mildy modified, naturally aspirated, '95gt and was disappointed with the tune. It took about 45 minutes of dyno time to iron it out.

Right on! Sounds good to me...I agree every car is different...I mean with Ford tolerances where they are...hell you have like 35 to 45rwhp diff on stock! LOL

I'm taking her in for sure....to get a custom tune. I was just wondering if TorqueFreaks used exhaust bungs or what?

i asked KK and they told me 125 and hour for their dyno tune.

Cool....

I'm just hoping the tune will be a lot better then the stock preditor pulley tune...cause it blows right now...it's not very responsive...and was not ment for a ported blower for sure.

We shall see...I hope they can get me in soon.

They use a wideband as part of the Dynojet system, and it clips into the exhaust at the tailpipe. You dont need to pay $45 to get a bung put in like some places, but if you have cats the number will be off (but still usable).

Damn....hmmmm maybe I should have them put in a bung hole. I mean I want to get the most accurate I can get...and I can resuse it when I put in my bosh wideband for gauge monitoring. Hmmmm...maybe I should have KK put one in this week prior to going in...with a guage! I'm eyeing the Dynojet wideband Commander setup...nice...

Beavis and Butt-head rock.

The car is too low. There are times when I think I should have used the MM spring isolators.

Slow...lol I hardly think you car is slow....any Cobra for that matter.
Yeah my area is a fantastic place to buy...you get a killer price on a new houses with land...imagine that...land. LOL

And you have a very nice drive into Portland....you can actually drive your car...lol limited congestion. It's why I bought out here 4 years ago. Housing prices are going up though....my house has went up nearly 25 - 30% or more in 4 years. So it's a great place to buy. Shoot buy my neighboors house...lol there are 1 or 2 for sale I think.
