Well, let's see...

$950 down, 60 payments @ 251.75 = 15,105 so $16,055 for the car.

$750 for the 5 lug all disc brakes, gears and Bullitt wheels,
$425 for the leather seats,
$250 for black interior
$425 other misc upgrades, suspension, clutch, alternator, etc.

So purchase of the car plus mods is around $18,000.

Add in almost 20 years of maintenance, tires & repairs and the total is close to $23,000. But then again, I've driven it quite a bit over the past 20 years! It is still a great bargain IMO. My average monthly cost these 20 year has been about $95 or so plus insurance. But of course I still need to spend a good $2,000 on paint & body work, and I plan to rebuild the engine when it hits 300,000 miles or so. It never ends!

well, considering i traded a t/a i payed 4k for and later spent another 2k on a paxton, blew it up and traded it for this, i guess that means i payed like 6k for it, plus the $200 MGW, $125 spintechs, around $700 for wheels and used tires, $580 for the BBK SSI intake i just ordered, a few random things like a fan clutch and vlalve cover gaskets that i wont count... and thats about $7600 which isn't bad, but i plan on paying another 3-4k on a motor, so i'll be getting there pretty soon lol.

Me and my wife were discussing last night how much I have put in the car compared to what its actually worth. I guess it's just part of the hobby. After seeing the spreadsheet of spending, she thinks I am crazy.

I've spent around $20k in my POS..mind you that includes stuff that I've sold off of it. (Probably made around $8k back in sales).

If I had all the money I have spent on cars..I'd spend it on cars.

Mac headers: 180 bucks
vrs pipe: 175ish
mac cat-back 275
65mm tb 100 bucks or so
70mm maf 150
moroso cai 40
edelbrock intake somewhere around 300 with the gaskets and a couple odds n ends
rear end: around 900 bucks including all parts and labor
shifter 175
pony wheels 690
2 sets of tires at around 340 bucks a set: 680

Around 3365 bucks all together on the car. Not including basic service stuff liek brakes, belts, etc.

Off the car: AFR 165s: 1k
part of the valvetrain: 500
190lph fuel pump: 90

4955 bucks altogether. And I still need SFC's, cam, finish the valvetrain, 24lb injectors and new maf sensors. Then I'll probably put some drag radials on the phone dials temporarily until I score some welds.

At first guess I am thinking easily enough to buy a new GT, but its not quite that much. An honest Guestimate would be around 15K. Its totally worth it too, every dime. Unfortunatly these new cars are getting so fast that I can honestly see another 10k going into it before I am completely happy.... 30k for a low 10 second show car, ... you bet..

But then you would've had to wait 12 years without spending any of that money on another car

Plus then it'd be 'just' another 03 Cobra. Nothing wrong with that, but suffice to say your Stang is unique and special
