I'm into mine for about $24,000. That included the car's initial price of $1,500 and the replacement of EVERYTHING except for the interior. People have called me crazy too. Oh well, I'm not out gambling, drinking, drugging, buying prostitutes, golfing, fishing, skiing, or engaging in any other hobbies that also cost money. Oh yeah, I'd rather have my car for $24K than a brand new GT for the same price. I'm not knocking the new ones at all. I'd love to have one of those too. However, I know I get more looks and thumbs up in this one than I would in a new one.

Yea, a new one is still 'just' a new one. Yours is somethin' else!

Thanks Dave! I'm not knocking other "hobbies" but I have friends who rake me over the coals because of my one and only hobby. They fail to realize that their golf clubs and golf equipment, plus the cost of golfing regularly, can be expensive. The same with fishermen, especially when they have to have a boat and trailer. I've taken grief from them all. When they razz me too badly, I just pull out one of my magazine features and ask them where their's are!

One thing I hear the most is this: "You won't even get half your money back if you sell it" My reply? "That's why it'll never be for sale. In the meantime, I plan to enjoy it."

Paid $2500 for the car. It's sitting in my garage since the day I bought it. It's completely stock with 82k miles. I've been contemplating what route to take with it, full on track car, halfway aggressive track car, or just slightly modified street car. After reading this thread, I know for sure it's going to get expensive. Maybe I should just sell my 89' LX hatchback 5.0, get a 2007, and call it a day.

I would probably have marble floors in my bathroom, and granite countertops on my kitchen cabinets, and granite counter tops downstairs on my bar. I would also make my 2-1/2 car garage a 3-1/2 car garage. For the car I wouldn't have...

I tallied up the major stuff, and probably about $5500-6000 including the car itself. I was assuming it was more like 6-7k so that's not too bad at all. I only paid $2400 for the car and I've definitely put more than that into it. Most of it's went into the suspension & steering. The only money I've spent to 'mod' my engine aside from maintenance items was a $10 K&N and a $160 X pipe.

Around 8g's. Suspension untouched except kyb struts and shocks (which will come off) once I get the money for, then I'll have to replace the ailing t5 within a year, then it needs more power and a set of track wheels.

It doesn't matter what you mod- weather it be a mustang, a import or a truck you'll most of the time end up losen money in the end.. I've had 6 trucks and 1 mustang and none of them remained stock.. The mustang I didnt loose money on because I bought and didn't mod it any more then it already was but all of my trucks I have lifted and I never got out of them what I had in them (truck price +mods). I'm gonna take a series hit on my truck I have now- I paid $15,000 for it a year and half ago and I have put over $7,000 dollars in lifts, tires, wheels, exhaust, alarm, ect ect. So in reality I have $22,000 invisted in it and I'll be lucky to get $16,000 out of it next year when I sell. When I actually think about that its like "why did i even bother spending all the money for?" But I've always enjoy the feeling of being proud of what I've built and I think thats why we all modd and dont look back!

Wow you saying my car is sick now theres some motivation..LOL Thanks but I cant hold a candle next to yours.. Hopefully this is just some sort of temporary depression that will go away soon I just found out some parts I have are all wrong so now I have to change my whole front susp. and sold off my turbo stuff (was in wayyy over my head) and now trying to buy back NOS stuf..

Also if you look closely @ that bike you'll see thats a downpipe from a turbo and that chrome cylinder in front of the rear tire is a NOS bottle and theres 3of them....

Lots of people underestimate the reality of slapping on a turbo, one way or another. i can imagine after a straight build for 6 years or so, you'd be kinda fed up or bored or sick of it though, but i think/hope its just one of those passing feelings and you fall back in love w/it after you straighten out the current problem. i've been there many times too

Crazy bike man. i'd be scared! just noticed your sig - got any pics of the Harley?

Including the car which I purchased for $3000, I'm in for about 11k including bodywork. Never really thought about it before.
