Like the title says how much time sould I give my new h/c/i to break in? Everything is new the heads were the only thing that was used but I had them totaly rebuilt. I just got the r/r to stop ticking. I was getting ready to adjust w the v/c off and all the sudden all the noise went away. I think through the whole h/c/i thats the onlt thing that has gone my way.

Congrats!

Technically there is no 'break-in' per say, but I would like to give it a couple hundred miles, and an oil change or two to be on the safe side. Get the valvetrain and computer a bit of time to adjust and mate together

I would say drive it a few hundred. I would change the oil after the first 500 miles.

Yup change the oil often. I hope you used conventional oil for the break in. Change it at 500 miles.

Load the engine up....but keep the revs in check. I like to make long loaded runs. Put it in 3rd or 4th with the revs nice and low. Give it about 3/4 throttle and bring the revs up to 4500 or so....then lift off and let the motor decell. This should seat the rings nicely. You want a lot of cylinder pressure within the first few minutes of driving to get those rings to seat nicely.

Once the rings are seated and you know the valvetrain and computer are straight....give it hell. If its going to break, you might as well have it happen sooner than later. peace

Ok, I plan on giving it hell on wed. the new 150 shot is gonna be all the hell that my poor stock short block can take, lol. If I blow it up I got a fresh built 351w that will take it's place.
