I've been casually looking for a nice 5.0 to buy, and my father in law gave me a tip on one in the area. It is a convertible and is the final year that the 5.0s were produced. I haven't seen it yet or have much info about it, but they are asking $15,000 for it. It only has 10,000 miles on it. To me that seems way too high. That's basically the price of a new car.

I was looking at some KBB values and they were only topping out at about $7000. So what do you guys think it should go for? I don't think it has been modified at all, but if it has I think that would justify the price being a little higher.

It kinda depends on what your "goal" is. Yeah thats a little steep. However you probably would be getting a great car with low mileage and more than likely in mint condition. But if you are gonna rack the miles up and what not, find something else.

Do you want to stay 5.0 or are you open for the 4.6? Because if $15,000 is in your budget find a used 32V Cobra.

If it's the last year of the Aero nose cars, I'd pay around 10K for the lower mileage.... but why buy one that you can not drive? I'd look for a car with more miles so that you don't have to worry about the sunday cruises all of the time.

Thanks for the tips guys. Wouldn't it be cheaper to find a 5.0 that's had some good mods done to it and a higher mileage for a lot less?

I don't want a car that has such few miles on it because then I feel obligated to baby it all the time and then I'd be worried about parking it and be totally obsessive. Hell, I still park my car way away from everyone else and walk forever and it's a 90 5.0 w/ 153k and faded paint, plenty of rust and has been wrecked. I'd probably never be able to drive a mint 5.0 lol.

The reason the 5.0 you're talking about is more than many modified cars is because the factory stock ones are getting to be VERY rare. Supply and demand dictate the price in an open market, so there ya go.

I'd recommend finding a USED 5.0 (not one that's been in a bubble for 15 years) and feel free to do whatever you want to it without feeling guilty. That being said, you don't want to buy a heap because then you'll spend a lot of money fixing when you could buy a decent one w/ nice paint and a good engine, etc, but with a 100k on the clock.

I guess it all comes down to what you want.

Well I'm sort of leaning to one that is near flawless on the interior and exterior, with a few of the basic bolt-on mods. I'd love to have a lot of power, but coming from a 3.8 to 5.0 would make me quite happy, so I don't really need any major power mods.

I'm still going to take a look at that 'vert and see what's up with it, but most likely won't buy.

I'd find one with a fresh engine and paint for $5000-$8000

"Two dollars and fifteeeeen cents!!"

Love that movie...

Anyway, $15k for a '95 Vert is laughable. In fact, thats what I'd do...go down there, look at the car, and when the guy tells you $15k, just start laughing...and continue to laugh as you get in your car and drive away.

You should be able to get one for under $10k w/o a problem.

That alittle steep keep looking i would say. I've found plenty of fox 5.0's for the 5-8k range that are in great condition some stock some modded. But a decent used one like was said that hasn't been babied so yo ucan mod it and have fun with it.
