20, I bought a red '66 Fastback from a highschool friend who joined the Marines. I got it for $1500. If I had only known then what those are going for today.
I was into 1/4 midget racing and my dad decided it was getting out of hand with some racers having $5000-10000 into their cars and we sold the 1/4 midget car for a 1966 black/beige roller. Restored it and sold it when I was 15, when i got the 89 I have now!
I bought mine in April of '06 when I was 18. Bought it wrecked with a salvage title...NOTHING wrong with the car other than a smashed fender and a bent tie rod. It looked like they were in reverse, swung the car around and clipped a pole or something Zero rust, 81k miles and someone had done some bolt on mods to it, other than that it was a bone stock car with 3.08's in the rear. Already has a really nice paint job on it. I got my cousins to flat bed it home, they put a tie rod on it for me and I drove it up the road to my house the same night. Fixed the fender, got the front end aligned, and put an exhaust on it...Got an R title for it and it's been my number one girl ever since .
17...it was an '83 GL with a 3.8L V6. To this day, probably the best car i've ever owned (probably more associated with the fond memories at the time than it actually being a really good car?) It was painted that ugly brown that they came in, in those days, had a leaky sunroof and no radio. Man do I miss that car. I found it a few years later after I'd sold it sitting in a junk yard. Apparently, the guy I sold it to though it would be fun to jump in at a gravel pit and took out the oil pan. He blew the engine and just let the car rot.
Just after my 18th birthday: '85 GT (black w/t-tops). Co-signed by momma. This was back in late '87 so the car was still relatively new. What a feeling it was driving off the lot for the first time.
17, bought my red lx, i felt like it was the fastest car in the world, but hey what kid hasnt been there before. i needed a few more years to mature before getting a powerful car, now im almost 21 and i have screws holding my left kneecap together, all cuz i was young and dumb, oh well some learn quicker than others haha
