How to clean chrome?

I need to clean my chrome tailpipes.. seems to be spots of black paint or most likely rubber or something, is it OK to use paint stripper, or will it mess up the finish?

I have some mothers chrome polish im going to polish them with..

Try some tar and bug remover or similar. Than use the polish afterwards.

you could also try simple green.

Will laquer thinner or paint stripper mess it up, or is it OK to use them?

I would just try it on a chrome part that is not in use to see if you are set on using harsh solvents. I wouldn't think that they would damage chrome as long as you washed them afterwards. Use some good polish afterwards.

Ya, its not cheap chrome.. pipes are Bassani..

I've got a bottle of Mothers chrome polish, so im good to go

Willy's.. couldn't tell ya.

A guy had them in Ottawa, only a couple hundred miles on them at the most.. i got a killer deal on them. $160 Canadian for the pair... 2.5" stainless pipes into 3" chrome tips and my brother picked them up.. so $160 for these pipes that i would imagine are worth $250-300 or so american?

They are awesome though, quality pipes and stainless steal, cant go wrong.

Try soda, after watching that mythbusters show, soda looks like it did a stand up job over the chrome cleaner they used!
