Here's some pics and instructions for you 69/70 guys on how to convert your stock automatic pedal assembly and brake pedal over to a manual setup.

1st you'll need to buy a 69 or 70 clutch pedal. The pedals appear to be interchangeable as I'm using a 69 pedal for my 70 assembly and it looks like it's made to be there.

Here's a picture of a 69 pedal I snagged off of Ebay for $40. Ignore the stuff bolted on top, that's for my homemade cable clutch conversion.

Here's a picture of my stock assembly once removed from the car. As you can see Ford has kindly installed the bushing for us ahead of time. Even in the stock automatic cars like mine.

As you can see in the picture, the 69 pedal looks right at home in the 70 assembly. The assembly has since been primered if you were wondering why it looks different.

You can also see that the stock automatic brake pedal is too wide and will interfere with the clutch pedal.

You can either buy a new brake pedal for a manual assembly (remember power pedal is different from manual) or you can cut down your factory pedal.

I chose to cut down my pedal. Here you can see the cut line I made using the pedal pad as a guide.

30 seconds with my sawsall and 30 seconds on the bench grinder and this is what I ended up with.

And here it is pedals installed and ready to back into the car. It's that easy! The biggest time consumer on this project was sandblasting and painting everything.

looks good...MustangSteve is supposed to have a 69/70 pedal assembly coming out sometime pretty quick

How come? I thought it wasn't needed for cable clutch conversions.

I may have done it wrong, but when I put the quadrent and adjuster in my fox I took out the factory stuff including the spring. When the clutch depresses and releases- the fingers on the pressure plate force back the throwout bearing, pulling on the clutch cable and therefore pulling the clutch pedal back up.

they function exactly the same way but the pedal supports and i believe even the pedals are different
