Okay, here is the story. I installed 3.73 gears on my 98 and put in the 23 tooth tranny gear to correct the speedo. Should have put it pretty darn close. After that, I put on white face gauges. I removed the speedo needle to do this naturally. When I reinstalled it, the speedo was way, way off for some strange reason. What I did to correct was drive the car with my wifes car as a pace setter at 65mph.....while going down the hyway I slipped the needle onto the speedo right at 65 mph. Now I find out 3 years later that it is off by 5 mph. Maybe my wife messed up (usually the case), or I flubbed up pacing her, at any rate the question is, what would you guys do to correct this? Do speedos have a mechanical adjustment on them somewhere, or do I just pop off the needle and try what I did before?

her speedo might have been off a few miles per hour. no factory speedo is accurate unless it's a cop car with the certified speedo. most of them are off 1-4 MPH 5 is a little high

Yea, her car was a pontiac so I am sure it was off now that you mention it.

even with your 23 tooth gear, you will be off around 10% if you zero the needle correctly. You can check this with your odometer with the mile checks, you should be around 10% off(showing more miles than you actually travel). I know I am. I'm just too lazy to install my speed cal. the 23 tooth gear would be accurate for 3.55s.

since my 3.73's are around 10% off, 4.10's would be off even more.

I am 3-8 miles high from 10mph-100mph depending with a 3.73 gear and a 23tooth speedo. Im over it and ordered a speedo-cal this morning. I have at least 500 ghost miles.
